Youth violence continues to afflict many communities across America, and many community organizations are finding that by banding together to leverage violence prevention resources, support, and funding, they can be more effective in their efforts to combat this public health problem. This collaboration, termed Community Violence Intervention (CVI), is being implemented in many US cities as an approach that employs evidence-informed strategies to reduce violence through community-centered initiatives tailored to that particular community. These initiatives aim to create a holistic and sustainable approach to violence prevention where communication, coordination, and collaboration are foundational principles. This conference will provide an opportunity for community leaders, advocates, educators, and concerned citizens to better understand this concept of CVI, what this looks like on the ground here in Charlotte, and elsewhere, and how we can support and advance ongoing CVI efforts in our own community.
