*THIS IS AN IN-PERSON EVENT!*

Trauma Informed Care is a service delivery approach focused on an understanding of and responsiveness to the impact of trauma. This program teaches staff how to meet clients where they are by understanding that trauma impacts care and recovery. This program provides education on how to recognize the signs and symptoms of trauma in clients, families, staff, and others involved in their care and how to engage and interact effectively to promote healing and prevent retraumatization in the clients and staff, therefore improving outcomes. This program provides practical tools with real-life scenario examples that staff can easily relate to, therefore empowering front line staff to implement new practices in the care of behavioral health clients. It is my experience that such knowledge and education can drive a cultural shift when implemented effectively. Integrating knowledge about trauma into policies, procedures, and practices creates a more trusting environment, resulting in better outcomes for all.

• Understand the impact of trauma on clients, coworkers, friends, family and even ourselves;
• Describe a compassionate and supportive community;
• Define the statement "what happened to you?" instead of "what's wrong with you?"
• Examine different groups ands 1-1 sessions.
• Improve verbal de-escalation.
