Supervisees face many challenges, which means that supervisors must raise awareness of risk management skills. In this session, participants will discuss how to help supervisees assess and respond to a client's suicidal behaviors using evidence-based tools. Participants will also review ethical decision-making tools that supervisors can teach to navigate tricky situations, e.g., maintaining appropriate boundaries, avoiding malpractice, duty to warn/duty to protect, capacity to predict violence, and more... . The presenters will consider the impact of legal precedence with strong implications for building supervisee competence and strengthening the isomorphic counseling relationship.
