The Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Nurse Education Day is a full-day educational event created to share evidence-based guidelines, comfort care and bedside manner practices with nursing staff that assist in the treatment of care for patients living with sickle cell disease.
Grant goals:
•Increase the number of providers adhering to the NHLBI guidelines to provide care for persons with SCD
•Increase the pool of providers offering evidence based SCD care by disseminating technology based provider support tools (tele-mentoring and telemedicine)
•Develop and implement strategies to improve access to quality care in a SCD medical home with a focus on individual and family engagement

Learning Outcomes:

Develop collaborative relationships with inpatient and acute care nurses with hematology teams and their patients.
