Description

This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide pharmacists with current updates on immunization practices in the United States, updated recommendations from the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a review of best practices for administering various types of immunizations, and review up-to-date vaccine related information.

THIS CE MEETS THE NORTH CAROLINA IMMUNIZER CE REQUIREMENTS!

THE INSTRUCTOR FOR THIS PROGRAM WILL PRESENT REMOTELY. Onsite attendees will view this program from a screen in the AHEC Conference Room.

This activity is eligible for ACPE credit, which will be applied for through the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, a continuing education provider accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.

Objectives

  • Discuss updates to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for childhood and adult vaccines.
  • Describe the proper use of key vaccines, including but not limited to, influenza, pneumococcal, shingles, tetanus (Td/Tdap), human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis B vaccines.
  • Utilize CDC recommendations to determine needed vaccines for a patient.
  • Identify resources to stay up-to-date on vaccine-related information.
