Course Outcome
After this conference, participants will be able to discuss evidence-based nursing practice that will enhance the nursing care of mothers and babies.

Objectives

  • Outline key strategies for management of diabetes during pregnancy
  • Describe findings and recommendations from the PQCNC for the reduction of neonatal sepsis
  • Outline steps for implementing strategies for reducing sepsis in the NICU Setting
  • Discuss common mental health disorders, their treatment, and their impact on pregnancy and post partem
  • Discuss alternative pain management therapies that may be useful during labor and delivery
  • Outline management and nursing care for maternal and neonatal patients with medical emergencies
  • Describe at least one technique for maintaining a positive attitude during difficult times
