This in-person, interactive course provides opportunity to learn and to practice approaches to improve quality of life and care for people living with dementia in all settings. Focusing on pain helps learners integrate brain change/brain failure (structural and chemical) within the structure of the 4 M's to produce in-depth communication, environment, and care strategies.
Lunch will be provided.

Melanie Bunn, GNP, MSN, RN
Melanie Bunn is a skilled and experienced advanced practice nurse and nurse educator, conducting over 200 presentations and trainings annually to health professionals, community organizations, first responders, families and others. She is associated with Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care, Bunn Consulting, and Duke University School of Nursing. Melanie received her undergraduate degree in nursing from UNC-Chapel Hill (1983), her Master’s Degree from Clemson University (1987) and a Post-Master’s Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Certificate from Duke University (1991).

Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists
Audiologists or Speech-Language Pathologists: South Piedmont AHEC will issue Certificates of Completion only; the participant must self-track and record the certificate for ASHA Certification Documentation. Choose contact hours or CEUs.
