High school students.

Description

UNC Charlotte is offering week-long residential camps in conjunction with NC-AHEC and geographically-aligned UNC system institutions to deliver healthcare pathway training, education, and shadowing experiences. These camps will offer the following for attendees:

1. Morning educational sessions (scopes of practice, application & enrollment process, health care skill development, investment & salary information)
2. Mid-day speakers across varied professions
3. Afternoon shadowing at local clinical and healthcare organizations
4. Evening soft-skill and professionalism development
5. Family activities to support new study/prep behaviors
6. A capstone project that students will present on their final camp day.

Objectives

  • Train high school students to pursue varied healthcare careers to understand corresponding job-entry points (e.g., certificate programs, associate-level licensure programs, undergraduate, and professional graduate programs).
  • Increase knowledge and intention among prospective healthcare workforce members.
  • Build the NC Healthcare workforce pipeline.
  • Increase the entry of students from underrepresented populations or underserved communities into the NC Healthcare workforce pipeline.
