This symposium is dedicated to all health care providers who seek to understand the unique health considerations and barriers for the LGBTQ+ population. This event provides an opportunity for professionals and community members to come together to share best practices and practical information that will lead to improving healthcare systems, inspire hope and better provide equitable and accessible healthcare for LGBTQ+ patients.

Objectives

  • Describe trends in LGBTQ policy at the state level in 2022 and its impact on population health.
  • Discuss the intersectionality and health related stigma within the LGBTQ+ Community.
  • Identify mental health risk and protective factors, as well as sources of distress and resilience unique to the trans and LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Know the impact hormone therapy has on chronic diseases.
  • Discuss the importance of patient navigation and clinical consulting for the LGBTQ+ patient population.
