Precision health is an emerging field approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle. This Continuing Education program will provide the learner an overview of precision health and how pharmacogenomics can improve medication management in various disciplines such as pain management, drug-related hypersensitivities, cardiovascular disease, and depression. The final module will provide an overview of key resources and considerations for pharmacogenomics implementation in clinical practice.

Module 1: Precision Health and Pharmacogenomics 101
Presenters: Sara Imhof, PhD, MA, BSN & Tim Wiltshire, PhD
This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist/healthcare provider with basic information of what is Precision Health, and specifically what is Pharmacogenomics.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Define precision health.
2. Define pharmacogenomics.
3. Review the terminology of pharmacogenomics.
4. Discuss how genetic information relates to prescribing an appropriate drug.
Module 2: Drug-Induced Hypersensitivity and Opioid Pharmacogenomics
Presenter: Jai N. Patel, PharmD, BCOP
This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist/healthcare provider with information on the impact of HLA pharmacogenomics on drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions and opioid pharmacogenomics on pain response.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe the impact of HLA pharmacogenomics on drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions.
2. Discuss the impact of pharmacogenomics on opioid pharmacology and response.
Module 3: Specialty Pharmacogenomics – Cardiovascular and Psychiatric Disease
Presenter: Deepak Voora, MD
This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist/healthcare provider with the practical examples using clinical scenarios where genetic variation modifies the treatment response.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Explain the clinical scenarios where genetic variation modifies the treatment response to clopidogrel and how to modify therapy.
2. Discuss the genes that determine response to medications used to treat mental health symptoms, how to tailor prescriptions based on a patient's pharmacogenetic profile, and what benefits to expect.
3. Discuss the limitations of current pharmacogenetic testing for both clopidogrel and psychiatric medications.
Module 4: Putting Pharmacogenomics into Practice
Presenter: Gillian Bell, PharmD
This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist/healthcare provider with available pharmacogenomics resources and implementing pharmacogenomics testing in practice.
At the completion of this knowledge-based activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Describe available resources to support pharmacogenomics recommendations.
2. Identify considerations for implementing pharmacogenomics testing in clinical practice.
CE Information
This series includes four 30-minute sessions for 2.0 hours of ACPE credit. No partial credit available. To receive full 2.0 ACPE contact hours or 2.0 CNE contact hours, participants must complete a post test after each session with a passing score of 80%. 
Continuing Education Credit for Pharmacists:
The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program ACPE #0046-9999-19-133-H01-P (Pharmacist) provides 2.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive ACPE credit for this program, pharmacists have 60 days from the start date to complete all 4 modules, post tests, and claim ACPE credit.
Continuing Education Credit for Nurses:
2.0 Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) Contact Hours will be awarded to nurses who completed all four modules.
No partial credit will be awarded.
