Pharmacists, Nurse Practioners, Nurses
The Healthy North Carolina 2030 State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) has identified teen birth rates as health behaviors target for improvement. Pharmacists can play a critical role in health access especially in rural areas. To assist with this goal, the North Carolina General Assembly has passed, and Governor Cooper has signed into law, legislation that authorizes qualified immunizing pharmacists to dispense self-administered oral or transdermal contraceptives after the patient completes an assessment consistent with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's United States Medical Eligibility Criteria (US MEC) for Contraceptive Use.
This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide pharmacists with education on contraceptive options available in the US, including an overview of hormonal and non-hormonal methods. Additionally, this session will review resources available to support safe use and prescribing of these agents in clinical practice.

The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program ACPE# 0046-9999-22-006-L01-P ((Pharmacist) provides 2.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, you must complete the CE attendance form and the evaluation of the program. Statement of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor.
