Social Workers, Mental Health Workers, Psychologists
This workshop is broken up into 3 parts: trauma, the brain, and the body's response. We will define trauma as it relates to stress and adversity; giving various examples of different types of trauma/adversity. We will then learn about the brain including a brief highlight of its structure and functions. After reviewing the trauma and the brain, we dive into how the body responds to trauma; giving real-life examples relevant to all people. We will close with skills and tools to help offset the negative impact of trauma; also known as resilience-building techniques. Participants will walk away with a better understanding of how to manage their levels of stress and an easy to follow self-care plan.
