Target Audience

Any licensed personnel interested in learning how integrative therapies can supplement current medical interventions to improve patient experience, reduction of symptoms such as anxiety, nausea, pain, insomnia, etc. Personnel included: RNs, LPNs, RTs, OTs, STs, PTs, NPs, PAs, MD, Rad Techs, Massage Therapists, Chaplains, Chaplain residents, Integrative Health Practitioners or Integrative Health Volunteers.

Description

This introductory level class will explore the inter-relatedness of aspects of health and wellness and how some common integrative therapies work synergistically to support the journey toward achieving and maintaining wellness. Inhaled clinical aromatherapy and massage will be discussed in depth with opportunities for some hands-on experiences.

Objectives

  • Name and describe at least three aspects of health and wellness.
  • Discuss the importance of integrative strategies in our modern healthcare system.
  • Name and describe at least three integrative modalities available in the healthcare setting.
  • Identify an essential oil that may be supportive for the client with anxiety and insomnia.
  • Demonstrate basic hand massage techniques that can be used in any setting.
