This symposium will be held at the Rizzo Center in the MeadowMont in Chapel Hill, NC and feature many prominent physicians, psychologists, and researchers who are experts on FGIDs. The founders of the UNC Center will set the stage by summarizing current understanding of the etiology of IBS and the important role the doctor-patient relationship plays in the success of treatment. Following this introduction, topic experts will thoroughly cover practical and up-to-date information on pharmacotherapy, the use of psychotropic drugs, probiotics, antibiotics, and diet. In addition, experts on the psychological treatment of FGIDs will explain how cognitive behavior therapy, hypnosis, and other psychological methods are done in IBS treatment, what the indications for referral are, and what evidence there is for the effectiveness of these techniques. Finally, there will be lectures on how the Rome criteria are used in clinical practice, including discussions related to The Rome Diagnostic Algorithms and The Multidimensional Clinical Profile.

If you choose the webinar option, you will be emailed a password and the link to the webinar website shortly before the conference.
