  • Utilize case vignettes from the home healthcare setting as a framework to discuss challenges of applying guideline-directed diabetes management in people with diabetes.
  • Compare and contrast new medications to what is currently available
  • Discuss insulin products and cost savings programs

  • Discuss existing research on protein restriction as an intervention to delay kidney failure in adults with advanced kidney disease
  • Outline dietary interventions to delay kidney disease progression
  • Examine guidelines for insulin use in patients receiving maintenance dialysis.
  • List 2 reasons why weight loss goals are contra-indicated for Medical Nutrition Therapy.
  • Identify two frameworks/models that offer nutrition interventions for health improvement without weight loss as a named treatment goal.
  • State basic knowledge required to educate diabetes patients on the disease and/or its management, including signs of hyper-/hypoglycemia, goals and monitoring, nutrition, and activity.
  • Discuss patient education on general diabetes education, including signs of hyper-/hypoglycemia, goals and monitoring, nutrition, and activity.
  • Discuss inpatient CGM use since April 1st 2020 (FDA announcement.
  • Illustrate areas of inpatient technology as it directly applies to people with diabetes.
  • Describe commonly available technologies to assist in diabetes management.
  • Discuss different platforms available to gather relevant clinical data from patients remotely.
