ALERT - The health and safety of our learners is of the utmost importance to us. We are closely monitoring the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. Due to recent corporate restrictions, Charlotte AHEC has cancelled this conference. We are fully committed to ensuring that our conference attendees and staff remain safe and well.
In this event participants will enjoy a 60-minute play prepared by local Charlotte teens with vignettes about teen health issues including: dating violence, bullying, substance use, mental health and sexual health. The participants will then be led in a training that brings the issues in the play to practice.
This presentation will explore issues related to working with adolescents, particularly addressing issues related to mental health, bullying, substance use and sexual health. Participants will first view the play, The Big Picture, a youth initiative solely written and performed by adolescent youth, in partnership with Teen Health Connection. The Big Picture addresses the current trends and health related issues facing teenagers today, with a focus on positive behavioral and health choices. Building on examples from The Big Picture, the Mental Health presenters will discuss the issues that teenagers are facing today and the impact that these issues can have on them physically, emotionally and socially.
