Target Audience

8th-12th grade students that love science and want to learn more about careers in healthcare.

Description

Do you know your anterior from your posterior? Your ventral from your dorsal? Your proximal from your distal? Join us for a hands-on introduction to the vocabulary of a medical professional. You will familiarize yourself with terminology by building play dough patients and then put your new knowledge to the test as you dissect a rat, making the cuts in all the right places.

Objectives

  • Become familiar with anatomical vocabulary used in medical professions.
  • Build and correctly label a model with the vocabulary terms.
  • Dissect a rat following a protocol using anatomical terminology.
  • Compare and contrast rat anatomy with human anatomy.
