Objectives

• Describe the multifaceted pathophysiology of sepsis and septic shock
• List the proposed mechanisms of action of thiamine and ascorbic acid in septic shock
• Discuss the pertinent literature regarding thiamine, ascorbic acid and corticosteroids for the treatment of septic shock
