Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants and all other interested healthcare professionals

Description

This course is designed to introduce and advance the practitioner’s ability to utilize various myofascial release techniques. Information will be presented regarding myofascial anatomy, physiology and biomechanics, with emphasis toward effects of the system on body movement and function. Current research, within the context of practical clinical treatment, will be addressed. Basic linear techniques will expand into multi-dimensional techniques through the day. Particular attention will be paid to integrating these myofascial techniques into participant’s typical clinical intervention strategies.

Objectives

  • At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
  • Describe the myofascial system and the rationale behind pathologies affecting the system
  • Analyze the scientific literature and rationale regarding myofascial interventions
  • Apply the appropriate evaluative procedures for scar adherence, general fascial tension, and restricted joint mobility
  • Apply superficial and deep interventions to typical locations of myofascial restriction throughout the body
