This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide the pharmacist with education on patients who refuse blood products and the alternatives to blood products that are currently available or in development.

Session 2 on May 15 5PM to 6PM will be Drug Dosing in Liver
Session 3 on May 29 4PM to 5PM will be What Can You Do When You Can’t Give Blood? Jehovah’s Witness and Medications Containing Human Blood Products
Session 4 on May 29 5PM to 6PM will be Refractory Status Epilepticus

Objectives

  • List at least two reasons for refusal of blood products
  • Discuss therapeutic issues surrounding blood product alternatives
  • Identify data and results of relevant clinical trials to individual clinical practice
  • Locate resources available for treating a patient who refuses blood products
