This conference is jointly provided by Charlotte AHEC and School Nurse Association of North Carolina.

This conference hosted in person and via live webinar, is designed to provide an opportunity for school nurses to come together and learn more about the current trends and topics effecting their role and care of the school-aged children. Topics include childhood nutrition, IEP / 504 Plan documentation, and seizure medications update. A resiliency session will offer practical strategies to promote the balance and wellbeing of an individual during this unprecedented time of adversity. All participants are welcome to join the School Nurse Association North Carolina (SNANC) business meeting during lunch and to network with their peers.

Registration Fee $75.00 for non-SNANC Members. Registration for in person option will be closed on November 22, 2021
No same day or walk-in registration will be accepted.

Early Bird Registration $75.00 before 11/22/21, then $90.00. Registration will be closed on 12/01/21.

Objectives

  • Discuss obesity as a chronic disease with unique pathophysiology requiring ongoing review of treatment effectiveness to improve outcomes.
  • Discuss the Individualized Education Plan (IEP)and 504 Plans and level of Nursing Services on IEP.
  • Discuss how to use the Student Health Assessment in school nurse practice.
  • Define what resilience means in one's own life.
  • Discuss how the survival brain, emotional brain and thinking brain relate to resilience.
  • Discuss updates on the treatment of epilepsy.
