This online module is intended for physical therapists, physical therapist’s assistants, and rehabilitation leaders struggling to cut through the clutter for actionable information on the physiology, clinical course, do’s and dont's of treatment, and evidence-informed treatment guidelines relative to COVID-19. This is an introductory course designed to clarify the roles, responsibilities, and clinical considerations of the physical therapist and physical therapist’s assistant, at every phase of patient care.

  • Familiarize the non-acute PT with physiology and inpatient course of patients with COVID-19;
  • Familiarize the acute PT with post-acute considerations;
  • Introduce the learner to the pathophysiology and clinical course of COVID-19;
  • Review with the learner, the value (or not) of postural drainage and chest PT;
  • Review mortality rates and transmission risks;
  • Review mobility considerations in the acute and post-acute phase;
  • Review evidence-informed materials for public education.
