Description

This knowledge-based CPE activity will provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with current updates on immunization practices in the United States, updated recommendations from the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a review of best practices for administering various types of immunizations, and review up-to-date vaccine related information.

THE INSTRUCTOR FOR THIS PROGRAM WILL PRESENT REMOTELY. Onsite attendees will view this program from a screen in the AHEC Conference Room.

Continuing Education Credit For Pharmacists:
The University Of North Carolina Eshelman School Of Pharmacy is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. The program ACPE# 0046-9999-19-263-L06-P/T(Pharmacist)and (Pharmacy Technician) provides 3.0 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. To receive CE credit, you must complete the CE attendance form and the evaluation of the program. Statement of credit can be viewed and printed in CPE Monitor. Statements of CE Credit will be processed in approximately 2 to 3 weeks. **No partial credit will be available**

Objectives

  • Discuss updates to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for childhood and adult vaccines.
  • Describe the proper use of key vaccines, including but not limited to, influenza, pneumococcal, shingles, tetanus (Td/Tdap), human papillomavirus (HPV) and hepatitis B vaccines.
  • Utilize CDC recommendations to determine needed vaccines for a patient.
  • Identify resources to stay up-to-date on vaccine-related information.
