This course is designed for the experienced clinician in order to enhance skills and review best practices in a wholistic assessment process, with an emphasis on Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCAs), primarily for children. The curriculum includes guidance for gathering information in challenging clinical circumstances and underscores the importance of a detailed and well-informed diagnostic work-up. The course also addresses common pitfalls in report-writing techniques and offers suggestions for strengthening reports for communicating with mental health and other professionals, while also adhering to Medicaid guidelines. Suggestions will be made about providing helpful feedback to individuals in a debriefing session, and how to effectively work with high-conflict families. The course takes an experiential approach in writing and evaluating assessments, and templates for effective assessments will be provided.
