Description

Discover the latest OSHA requirements concerning bloodborne pathogens and exposure control. You will also learn the details of the latest Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for dentistry, barriers, epidemiology, and principles of sterilization. OSHA’s annual training requirements will be satisfied except for office specifics.

Dr. Murrah also holds a joint appointment with the UNC School of Medicine in the Pathology and Otolarynology Department.

Objectives

  • Review and discuss the latest OSHA regulations as they pertain to dentistry with an emphasis on bloodborne pathogens.
  • Discuss the epidemiology and current CDC recommendations for prevention and transmission of HIV, HBV, HCV, TB, and other pathogens associated with clinical dentistry.
  • Review requirements for an effective needle stick/sharp exposure policy and post-exposure protocol.
  • Discuss new regulations for record keeping in the dental office.
