Anyone can attend the NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar. If you are pursuing certification as a CDP®, you must complete the NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar by an approved NCCDP Instructor. Not everyone will qualify for CDP® certification. This one-day course is taught by a National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) Certified Dementia Care Trainer.
This course is part of the track to become Nationally Certified as a Dementia Practitioner. Professionals may also attend the course for enhancing your education. In order to become certified Dementia Practitioner, a person must fit one of 4 options to become certified.

The CDP certification is a compliment to the professional credentials and training you already have obtained in your chosen profession and your choice to work with the geriatric field.
For most professionals, many have been exposed to clients with Dementia. Many have attended In-Services and seminars that deal with Dementia Issues and Behavior Issues. You may be qualified to work with this special population but not certified. Certified (CDP® Certified Dementia Practitioner®) states that you have taken your profession to the next level. It states clearly that you are educated in the field of Dementia. Not only are you qualified to work with dementia clients but also you’re certified. Certification standards require education, experience and continuing education. Certification requires that the CDP® stays current with trends, ethics, regulations, medications and new developments that pertain to Dementia.
CDP credential requires specific numbers of years of 'on the job' experience as well as attendance at the Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar

Enhance the quality of life of dementia patients through education care providers.
Foster sensitivity and respect for the dementia client.

Angela Burrow, CDP, CADDCT
Angela is a British American who has lived in Charlotte for 14 years. Angela has traveled to over 40 countries Worldwide. Her focus today is on Dementia & Person Centered Care Staff trainings and promotion of adapting environments to suit those living with dementia. Angela Burrow received her RN nursing degree at John Moore’s University Liverpool, England and post graduate practices include gerontology, long term care, rehabilitation, midwifery, and instruction. She is certified Dementia Practitioner & Trainer for the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP)
