Description

This knowledge-based CPE activity will increase pharmacists’ knowledge on the practical considerations of beta-lactam cross-sensitivities. It will help clinicians make informed decisions regarding optimal and safe antibiotic choices in allergic patients.


This program will take place at the CMC Main Auditorium, 1000 Blythe Blvd., Charlotte NC 28203 OR you can take as a webinar.

Objectives

  • Identify the pathogenesis of immunologic hypersensitivity reactions to beta-lactam antibiotics
  • Describe the mechanism of allergic cross-reactivity between cephalosporins and other beta-lactam antibiotics
  • Discuss concepts of cephalosporin allergy and beta-lactam cross-reactivity to a patient case
