Pharmacists
This knowledge-based CPE activity will review selected new drugs released over past 12 months using a “formulary approach.” Each medication’s characteristics such as pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, efficacy, safety, dosing, and cost will be compared to current medications, if any, used for similar indications. The audience will use criteria to determine if the new medication meets the criteria for addition to a health system formulary. The criteria include: is it a new pharmacologic class; is it more efficacious than current treatments; is it safer than current treatments; are there any clinically relevant pharmacokinetic advantages; or is the new medication more cost effective. In addition, new drugs of interest anticipated to be released over the next two years will be briefly discussed.
Instructor will present this program remotely. Onsite attendees will view program from a screen in the AHEC Conference Room.
