Social workers, psychologists, licensed professional counselors, educators, school personnel, mental health professionals, clinicians, health and human service practitioners, and other health care professionals.

Description

There are numerous strategies designed to replace disruptive behavior in children and adolescents with pro-social behavior. This program offers you an overview of such strategies. You will explore the evidence supporting behavioral interventions and basic concepts of the theoretical framework and will have the opportunity to apply newly acquired concepts to cases and become adept at designing strategies to positively impact the behavior of children and adolescents.

Objectives

  • Explain how behavior is learned and how habits, both helpful and unhelpful, become ingrained.
  • Describe the theoretical framework behind behavioral interventions.
  • Identify the function of a specific behavior.
  • Develop strategies to reinforce pro-social behaviors and extinguish disruptive behaviors.
