This presentation will focus on children’s grief issues across the lifespan: infancy, preschool, early school age and late school age. Special attention will be paid to a number of techniques available for clinicians to help children work through their grief, as well as addressing the complexities faced by children in today’s society. Participants will also develop an understanding of children’s grief issues by learning practical concepts and tools to use with children. This workshop is an introductory course for those individuals who are looking to further their knowledge of counseling theories and counseling skills in order to enhance their ability to work more effectively with children. The intent of this workshop will be to help participants recognize the normative response of children to grief. It is intended for professionals, volunteers, and support staff who work with children of all ages.
