About the Mental Health Education Program
Mental illness is a serious health crisis in the United States. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), an estimated 26.2 percent of Americans ages 18 and older - about one in four adults - suffer from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.
With the divestiture of the North Carolina public sector of mental health services under reform, Charlotte AHEC continues to expand and enhance its partnerships and relationships with a wide variety of mental health and related agencies.
Charlotte AHEC's Mental Health Education team provides quality educational opportunities for healthcare professionals, builds partnerships, promotes recruitment and retention of healthcare professionals, and advances healthcare in the communities we serve.
